Since it has been way more than a year since I updated this journal, maybe I should do something along those lines. Since my last entry, I have (long inhale) completed student teaching and 35 page monstrosity for the state, graduated college with a degree in teaching, worked as a camp counselor over the summer, landed a job teaching music in a small town that's kind of in the middle between my home town and college town, bought a house of my own, and am living as an independent big-kid (read: adult). Life is good right now and the job is keeping me busy. I'm proud to be where I am and am working hard to do my best. I work with K-5 students in general music classes, a middle school choir, a high school choir, high school piano and guitar classes, as well as elementary and middle school guitar lessons. This would also explain why I haven't contributed anything to this site in ages. To be honest, the little time and energy I have left I spend drawing mostly for myself. However, I've been working with some friends on a story, which seems to bring a refreshing new breeze to my stagnant imagination (at least, that's how it seems as of lately). Christmas is around the corner and we're frantically working to be ready for the accompanying music programs. Then, after that, I'm planning on spending some down time working creatively on something that doesn't have as much to do with music. As much as I love music, sometimes I wish I could explore other avenues more often.
Still, I love my job and I feel like I'm working toward fulfilling a purpose that will last my entire life. I know I always need to improve and I am happy to do so for the sake of myself and my students. I may mess some things up on this tough learning curve, but that's ok in the grand scope of things as long as I keep getting better at my trade. So, yes, that's how I'm spending my time these days and I'm very happy about that. Hopefully, I'll get some things posted around Christmas. Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!
Oh... also... Watched Shingeki no Kyojin. IT WAS AWESOME.
